HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I have offically left WSMU.
Policy Changes,membership dues (remember we weren't getting paid to begin with) , unaccessable entrances, and lack of support from the Eboard have caused DJs to leave.

Hopefully I'll start Podcasting all the bands that I used to play at the radio station.

Also comments are being disabled for this blog since I am being infested with SPA M.

because I have hooks for hands and we don't get paid at the radio station so typing out my playlist is a bit depressing which is really a shame because this blog was actuall good once upon a time go over to the world of horror network they update more------------------

I just woke up from a horrible nightmare
(morningmare maybe it is allmost 8 am) to an empty house.
My hands and face still have sheet marks on them.
I have no new emails, eveyone
I know on AIM is still away from last night.
It feels like I am in 28 days later.
What brought on the unusually bad dreams?
1. I ate a salad last night
2. the super scary film of th evening was Amelie
3.I was reading Death Makes a Holiday, but the part
I read was about homosexuals and the social
significance of 10.31 in San Fransisco.

I played a second Alkaline Trio song because it was requested that I do so, if you are ever listening to a radio show and want to request a song try not to request the bad you just heard, it's tacky, wait a day ( a week in the case of my show) and request it then.I'm greatful you are listening to my show and it's great that you are enjoying it but come on if you like the band so much go buy the CD. Atleast nobody asked if they could hear a song again (as in can you play that song you just played again) this week.

Fantômas is the brainchild of Mike Patton. The name comes from a series of pre World War 1 French crime thriller novels. The character Fantômas is an anti-hero who commits the most appalling crimes. Fantômas is anyone and no one, everywhere and nowhere, waging an implacable war against the bourgeois society in which he moves. The Lord of Terror!

The music can only be described as unique. From subtle and precise to brutal and explosive. It is influenced equally by hardcore/death metal, cartoon music and film soundtracks. It is made up of tiny cells of music that move like frames in a comic strip. It is certainly an amalgamation of the bands from which the members come without sounding very much like any one of them.

DELIRIUM CORDIA is the third full length release from Fantômas. Their 1999 self titled debut was the first release on the now legendary Ipecac Recordings label. They followed that up with the haunting DIRECTOR'S CUT in 2001. The DIRECTOR'S CUT was a collection of cover versions of motion picture soundtrack music.

In the spring of 2003 the fellows reconvened in Los Angeles with Grammy winning producer/engineer (Norah Jones) Husky Hoskulds, to record the better part of 2 new records with distinctly different moods. DELIRIUM CORDIA is the first of these 2 new recordings. The next will come out in the first half of 2004.

DELIRIUM CORDIA is one track. It is several pieces that are weaved together to form one piece. It showcases a quiet side of Fantômas. The Ritalin seems to be working! Possibly the soundtrack to a very dark, fever induced nightmare. The momentary ambience is followed by chaos and confusion. Needless to say, this won't be heard on the radio. Turn on, Tune in & Nod out.

Fantômas plans on doing extensive touring in 2004. How they will pull this stuff off live is anybody's guess. If record sales and press reaction are any indication, it seems that there are many music listening people worldwide that are looking for something unique and interesting. Fantômas's brand of uneasy listening fills that need. The third course, DELIRIUM CORDIA, for your consumption.

Police in Paris have discovered a fully equipped cinema in a large and previously uncharted cavern underneath the capital's chic 16th arrondissement.

Officers admit they are at a loss to know who built or used one of Paris's most intriguing recent discoveries.

"We have no idea whatsoever," a police spokesman said.

"There were two swastikas painted on the ceiling, but also celtic crosses and several stars of David, so we don't think it's extremists. Some sect or secret society, maybe. There are any number of possibilities."

Members of the force's sports squad, responsible - among other tasks - for policing the 170 miles of tunnels, caves, galleries and catacombs that underlie large parts of Paris, stumbled on the complex while on a training exercise beneath the Palais de Chaillot, across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower.

After entering the network through a drain next to the Trocadero, the officers came across a tarpaulin marked: Building site, No access.

Behind that, a tunnel held a desk and a closed-circuit TV camera set to automatically record images of anyone passing. The mechanism also triggered a tape of dogs barking, "clearly designed to frighten people off," the spokesman said.

Further along, the tunnel opened into a vast 400 sq metre cave some 18m underground, "like an underground amphitheatre, with terraces cut into the rock and chairs".

There the police found a full-sized cinema screen, projection equipment, and tapes of a wide variety of films, including 1950s film noir classics and more recent thrillers. None of the films were banned or even offensive, the spokesman said.

A smaller cave next door had been turned into an informal restaurant and bar. "There were bottles of whisky and other spirits behind a bar, tables and chairs, a pressure-cooker for making couscous," the spokesman said.

"The whole thing ran off a professionally installed electricity system and there were at least three phone lines down there."

Three days later, when the police returned accompanied by experts from the French electricity board to see where the power was coming from, the phone and electricity lines had been cut and a note was lying in the middle of the floor: "Do not," it said, "try to find us."

The miles of tunnels and catacombs underlying Paris are essentially former quarries, dating from Roman times, from which much of the stone was dug to build the city.

Today, visitors can take guided tours around a tightly restricted section, Les Catacombes, where the remains of up to six million Parisians were transferred from overcrowded cemeteries in the late 1700s.

But since 1955, for security reasons, it has been an offence to "penetrate into or circulate within" the rest of the network.

There exist, however, several secretive bands of so-called cataphiles, who gain access to the tunnels mainly after dark, through drains and ventilation shafts, and hold what in the popular imagination have become drunken orgies but are, by all accounts, innocent underground picnics.

The recent discovery of three newly enlarged tunnels underneath the capital's high-security La Santé prison was put down to the activities of one such group, and another, iden tifying itself as the Perforating Mexicans, last night told French radio the subterranean cinema was its work.

Patrick Alk, a photographer who has published a book on the urban underground exploration movement and claims to be close to the group, told RTL radio the cavern's discovery was "a shame, but not the end of the world". There were "a dozen more where that one came from," he said.

Plan 9 was started in 1997 as a one shot, one time Misfits tribute band. well the show sold out in under a hour and in attendance to this historic show was non other than Kirk Hamett and james Hetfield of Metallica as well as jim Martin from Faith No More. all in attendance could not believe the mania that was unleashed that night. well 7 years later they have progressed into one of California's most popular bands. Plan9 has played for the likes of Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only ( btw jerry appears on the cd as well) They have mutated from a "Tribute band" to a legitimate full fledged Death Rock band. Never has a tribute band garnered such acclaime in such a short time much less release a cd of killer originals. To see a plan 9 show is like stepping back to the golden days of punk. Screamin' Jay Hawkins

Jalacy J. Hawkins' wild songs and onstage theatrics of his self-created brand of voodoo jive earned him the name Screamin' J.

Screamin' Jay Hawkins was born in 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is perhaps best known for his hit "I Put A Spell On You" as well as his stage antics. He would often be carried on stage in a coffin that was in flames. Hawkins began playing the piano and sometimes singing with Tiny Grimes and many others. He was also the 1947 Golden Gloves Boxing Middleweight Champion. Screamin' Jay had a knack for humorous lyrics and decided to go solo. He was a hit during the 50's. In the late 1950's, his albums weren't selling well, but he revived in the 60's with "Alligator Wine", "Feast of the Mau Mau", and "I Hear Voices".

Screamin' Jay recorded for numerous labels throughout the 50's and 60's. In 1978, Hawkins appeared in the movie American Hot Wax. In 1980, he opened for the Rolling Stones at Madison Square Garden. Rolling Stone member, Keith Richards, helped Hawkins with some recordings as well as the remake of "I Put A Spell On You". Creedence Clearwater Revival later remade this song. Compilations of Screamin' Jay Hawkins songs were issued on Edsel called Frenzy and on Red Lightnin' called Screamin' the Blues.

Other novelties, ranging from "Feast of the Mau Mau" to "Constipation Blues" (1967), may have stereotyped his talent, but on the other hand, his idiosyncracies have brought him TV and movie appearances that would have eluded him had he played his music straight. Regardless of style, Hawkins's recordings still display a remarkable voice, which would have been used for opera had Screamin' Jay had his way.

Sweet Daddy Hawk died on 12 February 2000 at the age of 70.

Just finished my 2nd (and final) night at Evilville. Was a really great time,
I worked as The Crimson Ghost and NO ONE ESCAPES THE CRIMSON GHOST ...or so he says in the movie.
Unfortunatley I won't be there next weekend (sorry to my legions of fans and enemies) which would be tragic if I wasn't doing something even better.

Based on Jill Thompson's graphic novels, this 47-minute Cartoon Network offering follows the travails of young Hannah Marie, who is tagging along with her older cousin and his friends on Halloween night. They meet for trick-or-treating at a graveyard, where the big kids devise a plan to scare the little cousin so they can ditch her. Like most mean-spirited schemes in children's entertainment, it backfires with a vengeance. In this case, young Hannah in her fairy princess costume is rescued by the titular Scary Godmother and spirited off to the Fright Side, where she attends a Halloween party with a show-tune-singing skeleton, a gluttonous werewolf, a vampire family, and--most scarily--a many-eyed monster. The youngster overcomes her fears, and the spooksters return to the scene of the big kids' crime to exact scary revenge.

How to make a Zombie

Ingredients:

1 oz Light Rum
1/2 oz Creme De Almond
1/2 oz Triple Sec
1 1/2 oz Sweet and Sour
1 1/2 oz Orange Juice
1/2 oz 151 proof Rum

Mixing instructions:

Shake all ingredients (except 151 proof rum) with ice and strain into a collins glass over ice cubes. Float the 151 proof rum on top, add a cherry (if desired), and serve.

Zombina & The Skeletones are five garage punk rock n’ roll vampires from Liverpool.

Although only 20 and skint the band released their debut album
“Taste The Blood Of Zombina & The Skeletones” in late 2002. The first pressing of 1000 sold out.

They have established Merseyside’s finest punk glam rock n’ roll club – Useless at the Zanzibar, Liverpool – and gigged up and down the country sharing stages with The Damned, The Misfits and The Meteors. They’ve toured Germany and received numerous offers of record deals from the States.

Politely refusing these, the band took themselves back into the studio to record their debut single
“I Was A Human Bomb For The F.B.I.”.

While waiting for this to hit the shops, Zombina and the Skeletones are busy working on their first horror movie - "Spring Heeled Jack's House Of Wax".

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Rodney Dangerfield, the bug-eyed comic whose self-deprecating one-liners brought him stardom in clubs, television and movies and made his lament "I don't get no respect" a catchphrase, died Tuesday. He was 82.

Dangerfield, who fell into a coma after undergoing heart surgery, died at 1:20 p.m., said publicist Kevin Sasaki. Dangerfield had a heart valve replaced August 25 at the University of California, Los Angeles, Medical Center.

Sasaki said in a statement that Dangerfield suffered a small stroke after the operation and developed infectious and abdominal complications. But in the past week he had emerged from the coma, the publicist said.

"When Rodney emerged, he kissed me, squeezed my hand and smiled for his doctors," Dangerfield's wife, Joan, said in the statement. The comic is also survived by two children from a previous marriage.

As a comic, Dangerfield -- clad in a black suit, red tie and white shirt with collar that seemed too tight -- convulsed audiences with lines such as: "When I was born, I was so ugly that the doctor slapped my mother"; "When I started in show business, I played one club that was so far out my act was reviewed in Field and Stream"; and "Every time I get in an elevator, the operator says the same thing to me: 'Basement?' "

In a 1986 interview, he explained the origin of his "respect" trademark:

"I had this joke: 'I played hide and seek; they wouldn't even look for me.' To make it work better, you look for something to put in front of it: I was so poor, I was so dumb, so this, so that. I thought, 'Now what fits that joke?' Well, 'No one liked me' was all right. But then I thought, a more profound thing would be, 'I get no respect.' "

He tried it at a New York club, and the joke drew a bigger response than ever. He kept the phrase in the act, and it seemed to establish a bond with his audience. After hearing him perform years later, Jack Benny remarked: "Me, I get laughs because I'm cheap and 39. Your image goes into the soul of everyone."

He has written music for several area filmmakers and is in the process of composing a score for a film directed by Mark Rigby. Since forming "day job records" in 1996, he has produced three CDs with his acclaimed free improvisational piano trio, "dull thud," with Curt Newton on drums and Nate McBride on bass. His most recent group is a noir lounge country/blues/groove ensemble featuring Rick McLaughlin (either/orchestra) and Mike Connors (combustible edison). Graveyard Alive: A Zombie Nurse in Love (Director: Elza Kephart. Producers: Patricia Gomez, Elza Kephart, Andrea Stark and Charles Jodoin-Keaton.) (USA) Patsy Powers is a nerdy young nurse who is the source of much disdain and ridicule among the other nurses. She receives most of the ridicule from Nurse Goodie Tueschuze (two-shoes), a blond bombshell who is engaged to the very handsome Dr. Dox. But everything changes for Patsy when a injured woodcutter that she is taking of bites her. Soon after, Patsy becomes transformed into an un-dead zombie hottie roaming the hallways with a swivel in her hip and sex appeal to spare. Dr. Dox begins to show interest, Nurse Goodie shows her dismay, and it seems that the weird-ball janitor is the only one that has some clue about the zombifications that are afoot in the hospital. Enter...Zombie King (Director: Stacey Case. Producers: Steve Solomos and Spilios Kapoglis) (Canada) The primary inspiration behind Enter...Zombie King is Mexican professional wrestling and the relentlessly formulaic genre of films it inspired. The film revolves around the efforts of masked heroes Ulysses, Mr. X, The Blue Saint and his sister Mercedes to discover who is responsible for a series of lurid zombie killings in a nearby forest. Suspicion falls on another masked wrestler named Tiki, who happens to be driving around to local wrestling shows with a U-Haul full of zombie wrestlers. Tiki, however claims he is innocent. Our heroes eventually are led to the hideout of the Zombie King and his henchman The Murderlizer and The French Vixen, who is trying to breed untamable zombie-human hybrids as an army for the Zombie King. One of the test subjects get taken into custody and held against her will at a facility in the Northwest Territories. The Vampire escapes, taking the victim into the cold arctic winter. Soldiers find the subject passed out in the snow, only to become victims themselves of the virus flowing through their veins. â€¢
Ring Of Blood (Director and Producer: Kenny Barrickman) (USA) Five people separately arrive at an empty wrestling arena expecting to audition for a horror movie. When one of them is found dead, the horror becomes very real! October 17 1:00 p.m. - Booksigning with Dr. Michael Bell, Consulting Folklorist at the Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission, will be on hand to answer questions on local vampires, ghosts, legends as well as sign copies of his book "Food for the Dead: On the Trail of New England's Vampires.â€ The Festival will also make use of the second floor Mezzanine of the Columbus Theatre and will repeat a special gallery exhibition of work by Cyril Place whose work was such a hit in 2003. Actress Janet Leigh Dies at 77

LOS ANGELES - Janet Leigh, the wholesome beauty whose shocking murder in the classic Alfred Hitchcock thriller "Psycho" was credited with making generations of film fans think twice about stepping into a motel room shower, has died. She was 77.

The actress' husband, Robert Brandt, and her daughters, actresses Kelly Curtis and Jamie Lee Curtis, were at their mother's side when she died Sunday at her Beverly Hills home, said Heidi Schaeffer, a spokeswoman for Jamie Lee Curtis.

"She died peacefully at home," Schaeffer told The Associated Press on Monday.

Lee had suffered from vasculitis, an inflammation of the blood vessels, for the past year.

The stunning blonde enjoyed a long and distinguished career, appearing in such films as the 1962 political thriller "The Manchurian Candidate" and in Orson Welles' 1958 film noir classic "Touch of Evil."

But she gained her most lasting fame in "Psycho" as the embezzling office worker who is stabbed to death in the shower by cross-dressing madman Anthony Perkins. The role earned her an Oscar nomination as best supporting actress.

Hitchcock compiled the shower sequence in 70-odd takes of two and three seconds each, for which Leigh spent seven days in the shower. Rumors circulated that she was nude, but she wore a flesh-colored moleskin.

Although tame by today's standards, the scene was shocking for the time for its brutality.

Leigh wrote in her 1995 book "Psycho: Behind the Scenes in the Classic Thriller" that the filming was easy until the last 20 seconds when she had to express total horror as her character was being slashed to death.

She often said she hadn't been able to take a shower since the movie. "It's not a hype, not something I thought would be good for publicity," she insisted. "Honest to gosh, it's true."

Leigh's entry into films occurred in cliche fashion. Born Jeanette Helen Morrison in Merced, Calif., on July 6, 1927, she was a college student when retired star Norma Shearer saw her photograph at a ski resort. Shearer recommended the teenager to talent agent Lew Wasserman, who negotiated a contract at MGM for $50 a week.

Dubbed Janet Leigh, she starred in 1947 at 19 in her first movie, "The Romance of Rosy Ridge" opposite Van Johnson. Her salary rose to $150 a week. She became one of the busiest stars at MGM, appearing in six movies in 1949.

Among her films: "Act of Violence" (with Van Heflin), "Little Women," "Holiday Affair" (Robert Mitchum), "Strictly Dishonorable" (Ezio Pinza), "The Naked Spur" (James Stewart), "Living It Up" (Martin and Lewis), "Jet Pilot" (John Wayne), "Bye Bye Birdie" (Dick Van Dyke), "Safari" (Victor Mature).

Leigh had been married twice before coming to Hollywood: to John K. Carlyle, 1942, annulled; and Stanley Reames, 1946-1948, divorced. In 1951 she married Tony Curtis when their stardoms were at a peak. Both their studios, MGM and Universal, expressed concerns that their immense popularity with teenagers would be hindered if they were married.

Aided by a splurge of fan magazine publicity, their appeal rose. They appeared in four films together, including "Houdini" and "The Vikings." The "ideal couple" divorced in 1963. In her 1984 autobiography, "There Really Was a Hollywood," she refrained from criticizing Curtis.

"Tony and I had a wonderful time together; it was an exciting, glamorous period in Hollywood," she said in an interview. "A lot of great things happened, most of all, two beautiful children (Kelly Curtis and Jamie Lee Curtis)." Leigh's 1964 marriage to businessman Brandt was longer lasting.

Leigh appeared with Jamie Lee in the 1980 thriller "The Fog" and made occasional television appearances in her later years.

"Touch of Evil" was "a great experience," she said in 1984, but she was disappointed with the end result: "Universal just couldn't understand it, so they recut it. Gone was the undisciplined but brilliant film Orson had made."

She wrote in her autobiography that "The Manchurian Candidate" was "a dynamite film," though she had worried about working with Frank Sinatra: "I had heard that Frank was known for unconventional work habits, and I was apprehensive, especially in view of our friendship. I needn't have been. My experience with him revealed his absolute professionalism."

I'm not a typical blogger and do not actually consider myself a blogger. Also I can barley spell.
I assume that blogs can be used as livejournals but since I have never used a live journal I could be wrong. DEAD WRONG MWAHAHAHA (adding dead offically keeps this soon to be rantish post on topic and I won't have my Monster CLub membership revoked)

Tonight has gone down hill (oh woe is me)
I'm breathing poorly so i'm havig trouble sleeping so i got back up and went on the computer...and thus the down hill adventure begins

I got an email from a freind asking me why I didnt go to his show last night ( I fell asleep early) and he wasn't in the least bit rude or mad about it but it does suck that I missed his show seeing as I see my frinds less and less these days.So for some strange reason i fell slightly guilty

Then I went to another friend's website to see what was up with his life in a lame attempt to care about my friends and got really pissed (seriously throwing up blood and fire kick a ninja pissed)
that he wrote a ...lets call it "bad review" about my favorite book series. Now what pissed me off wasn't that he didnt like the book( not everyone's taste is as good as mine I understand) but he wrote it with the style and intelligence of a retarded 15 year old KKKlan's member(what was said didn't make sense,was offensive for no reason,wasn't funny and tried to hard to be hardcore). I'm not sure if he thought it would be cool but he came off as a jackass to me. To make matter worse another friend of mine posted an even worse "review" of the book even though he had not read it. why ? I don't know maybe they think they are Madox or Colonel Hogan.
I was going to remove the links to their sites and I am seriously sure they wouldn't care,and write a review about what i thought about the book.but then i decided for some reason not to...probably because i am lazy (and handsome) and think highly of well written reviews.
but i was still super (i dont say Uber because i think it is gay, also i say gay meaning lame and not meaning homosexual) fucking pissed so i went to another site where i had posted some pictures earlier to see if anyone else posted pictures and i saw a comment to a post i had forgotten i wrote earlier in the evening...shit I'll even post it here

1. If you really want to go somewhere go there as soon as you get tired so you don't miss anything
2. It's best not to read things by people who have said stupid things in the past that have pissed you off because it is just a matter of time before you get mad again
3. Don't call fat people even if they call themselves fat and even if you aren't saying it to be mean because A. even if you are both adults something will go awry
B. their friends (young,old or fat) will get bitchy with you
4. Don't get mad so easily...ah bolloks to that on to number 4B
4B. Don't volunteer for anything because A. chances are you are going to have to put up with alot of bullshit by people that are full of themselves and don't appreciate free labor.
B. unless you are rich, not getting paid or even re-embursed is rough
For some reason I have been re learning lesson 4B for about Ten years now
5. Don't get into an enthusiast situation unless you are also an enthusiast
Examples. A.Nascar fans think Nascar is cool and if you don't then somehow in their eyes you are the uncultured red neck (odd huh)
B. If you are in a theatrical situation and are not a theaterfag
no matter what you do the theaterfags will think you are beneath them.
It is possible to be an asshole just because you are "way into" a certain situation/hobby and it has ruined your mind. Just remember Jesus hates you most of all.

Well i think i was going to write more but to hell with it i'm going to take more medicine after this run on sentence and not watch the anime on adultswim that someone has recently ruined for me.(more people who think that because they can type it there opinions are correct and well informed) But in closing I have to confess that.

The God-Damned Band of the Day

The Nightmare starts off on a hot humid night, deep beneath a full moon in the swamps of South Carolina. Under the moss covered dead oak trees, surrounded by the loud eerie groans of bull frogs, five creatures of the night come together to form The INDEPENDENTS....

Formed in the early 90's by Evil Presly and Willy B, The Independents was born out of the frustration of music being stereo typed and just plain fucking boring. Willy and Evil both loved all music, from Conway Twitty to Iron Maiden, from The Ramones to Etta James and the Specials. Both loved horror and sci fi movies and wanted to find some way to include it in their music. Evil started writing lyrics that told horror tales while Willy kept the guitar in one hand and gave all of the world the finger with the other. They rallied their friends together and started on their long journey through members, with only the goal of playing the music they wanted, when, where, and how they wanted.

After a few years and a few members, the guys had gathered a good following through rough demos from coast to coast. They signed a small indie deal with Rockduster Records and recorded their first album "In For The Kill". It was during this time that Evil met and befriended the bass player for the legendary Ramones, CJ Ramone. CJ got the Independents on a few opening dates of the Ramones' Acid Eaters tour. On their way to the first show with the Independents, Joey Ramone listened to some of the Independents demos given to him by CJ. He really dug what he heard and within minutes of arriving to the venue was introduced to the guys. After the shows, Joey made an offer the guys could not refuse. He told them he wanted to manage the band.

The ghouls hit the road non-stop on tours with such bands as THE RAMONES and VOODOO GLOW SKULLS and an early BLINK 182 to support "In for the Kill". But due to the lack of record company support, they signed their next release to Elevator Music. The Independents got back to work and recorded the "Stalker" EP. They did several of their own national tours as well as playing with RANCID, REEL BIG FISH, and GREEN DAY. Doing several dates on The Ramones' Farewell tour, as well as many festivals from CMJ to South by South West, the guys hit them all. After all this heavy touring, the band went into the studio for several projects. They did a few songs in the BRUCE MCDONALD movie "HARDCORE LOGO". Then Joey Ramone and Daniel Rey produced the Danzig song "Mother" for a compilation as well as the guys backing up Joey on a few tracks that have yet to be released.

They soon found themselves with a few new faces in the group and back on the road again in support of their self titled single on Hell Cat / Epitaph Records. From the Warped tour to the New England ska fest, and to opening up for RONNIE SPECTOR and CITIZEN FISH, to CHEAP TRICK and SEBASTIAN BACH, there was never a break for these fiends. Between every tour they were recording a song or two for another compilation. Some of the times their tours lasted 10 months!

Joey and the guys finally decided to sit down and record the next full length album "Back From The Grave". They once again called on Daniel Rey to co-produce with Joey. They went into the studio for two weeks, then took a break to appear in the mystery horror spoof film, "FINAL RINSE" directed by ROBERT TUCKER. Then they hit the road again.

While in NY, their van and all their equipment was stolen. They lost everything. Van, trailer, merchandise, and personal items. It all was gone. Over $60,000 worth of equipment , gone. The cops did nothing and the insurance companies did little more. The Independents had to start all over from step one. A lot of bands came to the aid of the group. Joey even threw a star studded benefit concert. There was no way the Independents would give up now. They went back to work getting all new equipment, van and trailer. Back in the studio, they recorded 4 more songs and put one live track featuring Joey on the album. They then had the album mastered by HOWIE WEINBURG. Two music videos for the songs "Little Blue" and "Death Notice" have also been shot by world famous director GEORGE SEMINARA (BEASTIE BOYS, RAMONES, DANZIG). The Independents did half the US. and Canada with THE QUEERS early in 2001.

After the passing of their manager, friend, and mentor Joey Ramone, the band set off on a full US tour with the MISFITS. They cut it short for time to mourn. Now the guys have their heads and hearts together. Before Joey passed he and the band put the "Unholy Living Dead" EP and the album "Back From The Grave"out themselves.

In 2002, The Independents found themselves back out on the road for US tours with the WORLD FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY and the QUEERS, EYELINERS and BRIEFS, as well as their own headlining tours. In early 2003, they released "Live From Murder Beach" on AMP Records and recorded a few songs for comps on such labels as Cleopatra , Fast Music and Peephole records. Now they are about to release the "Full Moon Arise" EP/CD ROM on Fast Music. Work has already started on their next full length CD. The non stop marathon touring is about to start up again, so beware. The Independents are going to play the music they want, when, where, and how they want.

In 2001, CALABRESE was formed by the three brothers Bobby, Jim, and Dave Calabrese. The brothers, from Phoenix, AZ, combine Gothabilly looks, B-movie lyrics and a Rock n' Roll sound. Satan's CHeerleaders perfromances most often consist of dancing for The Flametrick Subs. If you are interested in booking us with the band, contact Clem Hoot: we do not do any booking for the band. We are not available for hire to dance with any other band although, in the past, we have made cameos onstage with other touring acts. Some of the things we have done for hire are:

* hostessing/mc-ing
* bodyguarding/securing areas
* convention/trade show facilitating
* public spanking and humiliation
* event reporting
* modeling
* and, uh , go-go dancing. Yes, we do that too!

Johnny Ramone of 'The Ramones' Dies at 55

LOS ANGELES - Johnny Ramone, guitarist and co-founder of the seminal punk band "The Ramones" that influenced a generation of rockers, has died. He was 55.

Ramone, who had been fighting a five-year battle with prostate cancer, died in his sleep Wednesday afternoon at his Los Angeles home surrounded by friends and family, said the band's longtime artistic director Arturo Vega.

"He was the guy with a strategy. He was the guy who not only looked after the band's interest but he also was their defender," Vega said in a telephone interview from New York.

Ramone, whose birth name is John Cummings, had been hospitalized in June at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Johnny Ramone was one of the original members of the struggling Ramones, whose hit songs "I wanna be sedated" and "Blitzkrieg Bop," among others, earned them an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

Johnny Ramone co-founded "The Ramones" in 1974 in New York along with singer Joey Ramone, bassist DeeDee Ramone and drummer Tommy Ramone, who is the only surviving member of the original band. All four band members had different last names, but took the common name Ramone.

ey Ramone, whose real name is Jeff Hyman, died in 2001 of lymphatic cancer. Dee Dee Ramone, whose real name is Douglas Colvin, died from a drug overdose in 2002.

Clad in leather jackets and long black mops of hair, the group started out in legendary New York clubs like CBGB and Max's Kansas City, where they blasted their rapid-fire songs.

Since its debut album in 1976, the band struggled for commercial success, but they left a formidable imprint on the rock genre. Though they never had a Top 40 song, the Ramones influenced scores of followers, including bands such as Green Day and Nirvana.

Even Bruce Springsteen was moved. After seeing the Ramones in Asbury Park, N.J., Springsteen wrote "Hungry Heart" for the band. His manager, however, swayed him to keep the song for himself and it became a hit single.

The band had encounters with other big names, including producer Phil Spector, who collaborated with the band in 1980. During the session, the late bassist Dee Dee Ramone said Spector pulled a gun on the band.

"The Ramones had it rough," said Vega, who's worked with the band for 30 years. "The band almost had to be protected from people who were taking advantage of them. There was never any money made."

Johnny Ramone changed that by demanding more money for performances, but still kept a close watch on the band's budget; Vega recalled how Johnny Ramone would insist that the band drive nonstop between Boston and New York for shows instead of spending the night in a hotel.

In addition to his financial conservatism, the guitarist was politically conservative _ the late Ronald Reagan was Ramone's favorite president, Vega said.

Fans have remained loyal to the Ramones, and the Ramones over the years have been loyal to their fans. In 1979, while shooting scenes for the film "Rock 'n' Roll High School," the Ramones _ ignoring the director's order _ played a concert-length session for fans who had paid to be extras, Vega said.

"The Ramones never ever lost their image, their aura of being the ultimate underdog, the voice of the angry young man," Vega said.

A tribute concert and cancer research fund-raiser was held Sunday in Los Angeles to celebrate the band's 30th anniversary. It featured performances from Los Angeles punk band X, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Henry Rollins and others.

Along with his wife, Linda Cummings, Johnny Ramone was surrounded at his death by friends, including Pearl Jam rocker Eddie Vedder, singer Rob Zombie and others. Other friends who gathered at his Los Angeles home included Lisa Marie Presley, Pete Yorn, Vincent Gallo and Talia Shire.

He is survived by his wife and his mother, Estelle Cummings. He will be cremated during a private ceremony.

The Green Goblyn Project

The Green Goblyn Project hails from Cape Canaveral, Florida... Formed in early 1996, the goblyns have long been a staple in the Florida music scene. They have opened for many national acts such as, The Subhumans, Hot Water Music, The Casualties, A Global Threat, The Groovie Ghoulies, Even in Blackouts, Squirtgun, Los Straight Jackets, and Agent Orange, just to name a few. They have also toured the U.S. with bands like Leftover Crack (Epitaph) and, The House Call Abortions, performing such legendary venues as, CBGB's (New York City), The Hard Rock Live (Orlando), The Continental (NYC), The House Of Blues (Orlando), The Warped Tour 2003 (US), DragonCon '03 (Atlanta), Fitzgeralds (Houston), and The 9 Lives Saloon (Atlanta). With their unique blend of ambient melodies, and unconventional song structure, The GGP have an unmistakably original sound. Adding that to the bands fiendish onstage presence, makes them a certain bombardment of the senses. Between five self released albums, numerous compilation appearances, on a large variety of different record labels, and non stop touring, the band has developed a loyal following, not only in Florida, but all over the U.S. Recently completing their latest tour, the band has been making an impact on the American touring circuit, and with the help of radio, television, and internet broadcast, The GGP will continue to gain momentum here in the states, and overseas.

The Devil's Backbone

SYNOPSIS
During the Spanish Civil War, newly orphaned Carlos is taken to a school for the children of those who died fighting against fascism. He is given the bed that formerly belonged to Santi, a boy who recently died during an attack in which a bomb dropped, landing in the school's courtyard undetonated, a reminder of impending danger. As the amputee headmistress (Marisa Paredes, ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER) and the embittered caretaker Jacinto (Eduardo Noriega) engage in a love affair, the headmistress' cuckolded husband, the impotent but benevolent school doctor (Frederico Luppi) sits by passively. Meanwhile, after Santi's ghost repeatedly reveals itself to Carlos, another student spooks Carlos with a dark secret about the boy's death. War surrounds the school, violence infests it from within, and Carlos sets out to avenge the death of Santi.
Taking on themes such as the brutality of war and the loss of innocence, Guillermo del Toro's (MIMIC) film skillfully combines elements of war, gothic horror, melodrama, and adventure to create a work that functions as both a genre film and a politically resonant piece of nostalgia. THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE uses history as a means of transforming what would otherwise be a routine ghost story into a powerful and affecting statement.

Picked up The Misfits today at Best Buy for a mere 5 bucks. As you may or may not know Horror punk legends the Misfits named themselves after this movie which is Marylin Monroe's last film.

Speaking of Marylin....The Munsters 1st season is on DVD. It includes the never before seen Pilot episode of The Munsters.

Cartoon network's ADULTSWIM is slowly turning horror it seems.
Inuyasha(Demons hunting demons) ,Wolf's Rain(werewolves!)
and Witch Hunter Robin(Witch hunting) all give you a nightly dose of animated Horror.
We could stretch this paragraph out and mention Aqua Teen Hunger Force mentions/features Dracula, The wolfman and a Mummy, and that SeaLab 2021 has Cyborgs,mutants and evil twins but I'll just stick with plugging Inuyasha,Wolf's Rain and Witch Hunter Robin.

Work on EVILville is coming right along.

Lucretia's Daggers

Begun August 2001 with lyricist/melodist/vocalist Lauri Murphy and guitarist/collaborator Andrew Berlet, Lucretia's Daggers played to full-capacity house parties of artists, freaks, Goths, pagans, and friends in Watertown, MA for a year. After the short-term addition of bassist Alex Levin and Andrew Berlet's move to Michigan, Lauri reformed the band with the help of Darrell Brown (guitarist, collaborator, and sequencer arranger) in April 2002, then Stephanie (keyboards), and subsequently Mark Cloherty (bass) 6-8 months thereafter. The 4-piece band's nightclub debut and 5-song demo CD release party was held 9/7/03 at O'Brien's Pub in Allston "

Besides three house parties annually, other performances have included: Bristol Studios (Boston, MA), Burning Man Decompression Party (Boston), Jacques Underground (Boston), ManRay Club's "Miss Goth contest" (Cambridge, MA), The Skybar (Somerville, MA), the Tremont Tea Room (Boston), P.A.'s Lounge (Somerville, MA), and Zeitgeist Gallery (Cambridge, MA).

History of the Jack O'Lantern
The Irish brought the tradition of the Jack O'Lantern to America. But, the original Jack O'Lantern was not a pumpkin.The Jack O'Lantern legend goes back hundreds of years in Irish History. As the story goes, Stingy Jack was a miserable, old drunk who liked to play tricks on everyone: family, friends, his mother and even the Devil himself. One day, he tricked the Devil into climbing up an apple tree. Once the Devil climbed up the apple tree, Stingy Jack hurriedly placed crosses around the trunk of the tree. The Devil was then unable to get down the tree. Stingy Jack made the Devil promise him not to take his soul when he died. Once the devil promised not to take his soul, Stingy Jack removed the crosses and let the Devil down.
Many years later, when Jack finally died, he went to the pearly gates of Heaven and was told by Saint Peter that he was too mean and too cruel and had led a miserable and worthless life on earth. He was not allowed to enter heaven. He then went down to Hell and the Devil. The Devil kept his promise and would not allow him to enter Hell. Now Jack was scared and had nowhere to go but to wander about forever in the darkness between heaven and hell. He asked the Devil how he could leave as there was no light. The Devil tossed him an ember from the flames of Hell to help him light his way. Jack placed the ember in a hollowed out Turnip, one of his favorite foods which he always carried around with him whenever he could steal one. For that day onward, Stingy Jack roamed the earth without a resting place, lighting his way as he went with his "Jack O'Lantern".
On all Hallow's eve, the Irish hollowed out Turnips, rutabagas, gourds, potatoes and beets. They placed a light in them to ward off evil spirits and keep Stingy Jack away. These were the original Jack O'Lanterns. In the 1800's a couple of waves of Irish immigrants came to America. The Irish immigrants quickly discovered that Pumpkins were bigger and easier to carve out. So they used pumpkins for Jack O'Lanterns.

Plot Summary for "Dark Shadows"
Dark Shadows is a gothic soap opera, which follows the strange happenings to a New England family the Collins and their surrounding friends. The show features everything from Vampires, to Witches, werewolves.

The story of Dark Shadows begins with newly hired governess Victoria Winters arriving at Collinwood, the Collins' estate in Collinsport, Maine in search of her mysterious origins. She soon is caught up in the strange events and mysteries that seem to surround the Collins family. Eventually, the Collins' "cousin from England", Barnabas Collins, arrives and takes the show in a new direction; his vampire curse introduces a new history of the Collins family. Part of this revised history is the popular character of the witch Angelique whose jealously led to the tragic death of Barnabas' great love Josette and who placed the curse upon Barnabas.

Balzac

Balzac formed in 1992 in Osaka and began playing shows mainly around Osaka and Tokyo. They released their first single on their own label, `Evil Legend,` in 1993. Following this, through until 1995, they released 4 more singles through HG Fact and MCR, and 1 single through Omnibus.
On 10th October 1995, Balzac released their first full length album, `Last Men On Earth` through Alchemy Records and due to their similarity to legendary American punk band, the Misfits, with their unique pop sound, horror movie image concept and so-called `Devil Lock` hairstyle, they gathered attention not only in Japan but also overseas.

In 1996 Balzac went through a major member change then, in order to reach a wider audience, on 31st October 1997 they switched labels to Phalanx Records and released their second album, `Deep.` Following this, because of their energetic lives, Balzac were chosen to open for the Misfits' first tour of Japan, began playing at events such as Devilock Night, Mosh Boyz etc, played with the Mad Capsule Markets, and did a nationwide tour twice with Sobut, increasing their activity nationwide. On 31st October 1998, Balzac released their 3rd album, `13 Stairway,`which recorded good sales was then followed by their first one man tour of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, where at each venue they played to a sell out crowd.

On 3rd March,1999, following a tour of Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka with Husking Bee, Balzac released a split album with Sobut, entitled `Oldevils,` through Phalanx Records. In the same year on 31st October, they released a 4 song Maxi Single, `Into the Light of the 13 Dark Night,` which was followed by their first widespread national tour, which came to a successful end.
In the first half of 2000 Balzac, in January, embarked on their second Japan tour as the Misfits' opening act, and over February and March did a nationawide tour as the Mad Capsule Markets' opening act. Then in April and May they released a limited 6,666 copies of their video `Taste of Fear` which was followed by a commemorative top to bottom tour of Japan.

In Augest 2000 the limited production of 2000 Balzac 12 inch figures by Medicom Toy Co. proved to be an unprecedented and widely talked about hit in the figure industry. Currently, in November, Medicom Toy Co., are collaborating with DIW Phalanx Records and are working on a surprise project for the single to be released from their next album.

In addition, at the end of 1999,in a style similar to the early stages of the Misfits Fiend Club, a fan club managed solely by members, `Balzac Fiendish Club,` was established. Unlike other bands, there are many collectors of Balzac merchandise and due to this Balzac mania many goods are specially offered to club members only. Plus on 31st October 2000, the first Balzac official shop, `Shocker,` was opened in Osaka.

In the closing month of the 20th century, on 1st December, Balzac will release their long awaited 4th album `Zennou Naru Musuu No ME ha Shi Wo Yubi Sasu.` To commemorate the release, Balzac will stage a 28 venue, nationwide tour from January to April, 2001.
